Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Are you a student of West Bengal who comes from an economically disadvantaged family? If so, you may be eligible for the Swami Vivekananda Merit–Means Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to help students pursue higher education in West Bengal.

Who is Eligible?

The scholarship is available to students who are studying in Class XI and XII, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students in science, arts, commerce, engineering, medical, and technical/professional courses. M.Phil and doctoral students from state-aided institutions are also eligible. Girls who have completed their undergraduate degree with 45% marks in aggregate from institutions in West Bengal can apply as Kanyashree(K3) applicants.

To be eligible, students must have passed their qualifying examination in 2020, 2021, or 2022 with at least 60% marks in aggregate. The upper ceiling for family income is Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum.

How to Apply

Students can apply for the scholarship online. They must provide their bank details, including their account number, bank name, and IFS code. There is no need to submit a hard copy of the application.

Allocation and Rate of Scholarship

The scholarship rates vary depending on the course and level of study. For example, undergraduate students in science can receive Rs. 1500/- per month, while postgraduate students in science can receive Rs. 2500/- per month. M.Phil and Ph.D. students can receive Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 8000/- respectively.

Merit and Means Judging Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must meet both merit and means criteria. The total family income must be no more than Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Students will be judged according to their academic merit, with a minimum qualifying mark of 60% in aggregate.

How to Renew Your SVMCM Scholarship

General Degree/Post Graduate Degree Students

If you want to renew your SVMCM scholarship, you need to follow these directions:

1st Renewal

You need to submit your SEM 1 and SEM 2 marksheets.

2nd Renewal

You need to submit your SEM 3 and SEM 4 marksheets.

MBBS Students

If you’re an MBBS student, you need to follow these directions to renew your SVMCM scholarship:

1st Renewal

You need to submit your 1st MBBS marksheets.

2nd Renewal

You need to submit your 2nd Prof MBBS marksheets for the 2nd renewal in the following year.

3rd and Final Renewal

You need to submit your 3rd Prof Part 1 MBBS marksheets for the 3rd and final renewal in the following year.
