About The Poet:

Christina Georgina Rossetti (1830–1894) was an English poet who wrote a variety of romantic, devotional and children’s poems. She is perhaps best known for her poem Goblin Market.

Boats sail on the rivers,

নদী উপর দিয়ে নৌকা ভেসে যায়,

And ships sail on the seas;

এবং সমুদ্রের উপর ভেসে যায় জাহাজ;

But clouds that sail across the sky

কিন্তু আকাশ জুড়ে যে মেঘ ভাসে

Are prettier than these.

তা এগুলির চেয়ে আরও সুন্দর।

There are bridges on the rivers,

নদীর উপর সেতু আছে,

As pretty as you please;

তুমি যেমন চাও সেরকমই সুন্দর;

But the bow that bridges heaven,

কিন্তু যে ধনুক (রামধনু) স্বর্গকে (আকাশকে) যুক্ত করে,

And overtops the trees,

এবং গাছকে ছাড়িয়ে যায়,

And builds a road from earth to sky,

Ans: Last Sunday we were playing cricket in a field near our house. Suddenly a heavy rain started. After the rain stopped, we noticed a sparking and bright rainbow in the cloudless sky. We exclaimed with joy and took photos with our mobile phones. It was a great experience. It comprises seven colours. It seemed the rainbow had created a bridge between the earth and the sky. I will remember this day for a long time.
