When the family sits down to tea, the cat puts in an appearance to get his share.
পরিবার যখন চায়ে বসে, বিড়াল তার ভাগ নিতে নিজেকে উপস্থিতি রাখে।
He purrs noisily and rubs himself against the legs of the family members.
সে গরগর আওয়াজে শোরগোল করে এবং পরিবারের সদস্যদের পায়ের সঙ্গে নিজেকে ঘষে।
If there is a guest at the table the cat is particularly civil to him, because the guest is likely to have the best of what is offered.
যদি টেবিলে কোনও অতিথি থাকেন তবে বিড়ালটি তার কাছে বিশেষভাবে ভদ্র হয়, কারণ অতিথিটিকে যা দেওয়া হয় তার মধ্যেই সবচেয়ে ভাল কিছু থাকে।
Sometimes, instead of giving him something to eat, the guest stoops down and strokes the cat, and says, “Poor pussy! Poor pussy!”
কখনও কখনও, তাকে কিছু খেতে দেওয়ার পরিবর্তে অতিথিটি নত হয় এবং বিড়ালটিকে আঘাত করে এবং বলে, ” বেচারা বিড়াল! বেচারা বিড়াল!”
The cat soon tires of that.

He puts up his claw and quietly but firmly rakes the guest in the leg.

“Ow!” says the guest, “The cat stuck his claws into me!”

The delighted family remarks, “Isn’t it sweet of him?
আনন্দিত পরিবার মন্তব্য করে, “এটি কি তার মজা নয়?
Isn’t he intelligent?
সে বুদ্ধিমান তাই না?
He wants you to give him something to eat.”
সে চায় যে আপনি তাকে কিছু খেতে দিন।ট
The guest dares not do what he would like to do-kick the cat out of the window.
অতিথিটি যা করতে চেয়েছিলেন তা সাহস করলেন না – লাথি মেরে বিড়ালটিকে জানলার বাইরে ফেলে দিতে।
So, with tears of rage and pain in his eyes, he affects to be very much amused, and sorts out a bit of fish from his plate and hands it down.
তাই চোখে ক্রোধ এবং বেদনার নিয়ে মনে করানোর চেষ্টা করে সে খুব খুশি হয়েছে এবং তার প্লেট থেকে কিছুটা মাছ বের করে এনে নিচে নামিয়ে দেয়।
The cat gingerly receives it, with a look in his eyes that says, “Another time, my friend, you won’t be so slow to understand.”
বিড়াল অতি সন্তর্পণে তার দিকে নজর দিয়ে গ্রহণ করে, যা বলে ”অন্য সময়, আমার বন্ধু, আপনার বুঝতে এত দেরি হবে না।”
He purrs as he retires to a safe distance from the guest’s boot before eating his food.
তার খাবার খাওয়ার আগে অতিথির বুট থেকে নিরাপদ দূরত্বে সরে যাওয়ার সময় সে গরগর আওয়াজ করে।
